Dominic Doutney studies piano with Professors Ian Jones and Dmitri Alexeev at the Royal College of Music, London where he is the Reinhold-Blüthner Scholar. In February, Dominic performed Stravinsky’s Concerto for Piano and Winds Instruments with the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Martyn Brabbins.
He has won a number of awards including Third Place in the Joan Chissell Schumann Prize at the RCM, Second Place at the Isidor Bajic Memorial Competition 2016 and the Yehudi Menuhin Scholarship by the English-Speaking Union to participate in the Summer Piano Masterclass Programme at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada. He is the 2016 Winner of the Woking Young Musician of the Year Award, the 2014 Joint Winner of the European Piano Teachers Association UK Piano Competition and Winner of the Royal College of Music Junior Department’s Teresa Carreño Piano Prize and the Constance Poupard Piano Prize.
In June 2015, Dominic featured on the BBC Radio 3 programme 'Fast and Furioso' performing Chopin's Minute Waltz and discussing the art of virtuosity. In 2014 he performed at the prestigious Beaumaris festival on Anglesey, and at the Beaujolais Music Festival in France – he performed at the latter again in August 2017.
Concerto performances have included Brahms's Piano Concerto No 2 and Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No 3 with the Woking Symphony Orchestra, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 2 with the Cardinal Vaughan School Symphony Orchestra, Grieg's Piano Concerto with the Trinity Orchestra, Harrow, and Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No 1 in G minor with the Independent Association of Prep Schools Orchestra and Harlow Symphony Orchestra.
